A practical path from first visit to project enquiry on a landscape architecture site — pages, proof, and what not to automate. This is a working note from the VicanTheme journal, written for landscape practices and gardens. The catalog we keep returning to is HTML templates, because files you can host beat a locked builder when the brand has to last.
If you already know the industry, skip ahead to the recommended demo — Grove — and use the headings as a checklist rather than a speech.
The job is project enquiry, not engagement
Landscape architecture sites waste the fold on atmosphere. Atmosphere is the medium; project enquiry is the job. Put the action where a thumb can reach it, and repeat it on projects.
Do not install three chat widgets. One honest form or reservation path beats a stack of tools nobody answers.
Proof before persuasion
Show before/after, drawings, and the climate before you ask for a name. If the work is not visible, no amount of gold buttons will create project enquiry.
Write like landscape practices and gardens. Skip slogans. Name the place, the season, the people. Specificity converts in this category; vagueness looks like a template demo you forgot to edit.
Forms, bookings, and third-party tools
HTML templates should not fake a booking engine. Wire project enquiry to the system you already trust — OpenTable, a hotel CRS, Calendly, or a mailbox you actually read.
Grove leaves those hooks visible. You are not trapped in a proprietary form builder.
Measure the right thing
Track project enquiry completions, not bounce rate theatre. If mobile traffic cannot complete the path, fix the page — do not buy more ads.
Pair the layout with copy that names sites, planting, and public work. Then keep the rest of the catalog in HTML templates if you run more than one brand.
Questions people actually ask
Should project enquiry be in the header?
Yes, as a quiet text button, not a pulsing banner. Repeat it at the end of the work.
Do I need a shop?
Only if you sell goods. Project enquiry is usually an enquiry, not a cart.
